Bihar has produced a new IPL star. Mohammad Izhaar, hailing from the modest village of Thuthi in Supaul district, has been bought by Mumbai Indians for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction. His journey from poverty to the grand stage of IPL is a story of perseverance, grit, and sheer determination.
Humble Beginnings and Family Struggles
Izhaar grew up in a simple household, where life was defined by hardships. His mother, Shabnam, recalls the constant challenges he faced from the neighborhood while chasing his cricket dreams. Despite opposition and even physical discipline at home, Izhaar remained determined, vowing one day to play professional cricket.
To pursue his dream, he moved to Veerpur to join the Kosi Cricket Club, leaving home behind. While his family initially wanted him to focus on studies and a government job to secure the family’s future, Izhaar chose the cricket field over textbooks—and eventually proved his talent.
Rise Through Domestic Cricket
At just 21 years old, Izhaar made his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Chhattisgarh. He made an immediate impact, taking 4 wickets against Madhya Pradesh, marking himself as a promising fast bowler. His consistent performances in state-level cricket earned him recognition and ultimately paved the way to the IPL.
The ‘Lakh-Takia’ Son of Supaul Shines
Known affectionately as the “Lakh-Takia” son of his village, Izhaar has become an inspiration for many young cricketers from humble backgrounds. His family’s support eventually turned into pride, as he now represents one of India’s most iconic IPL franchises, the Mumbai Indians.
Izhaar’s journey is a testament to hard work, resilience, and the courage to follow one’s passion, proving that even the humblest beginnings can lead to the biggest stages in cricket.
