New Delhi: Indian opener Smriti Mandhana is on the verge of a historic milestone. In the fifth and final ODI against Sri Lanka today, if Mandhana scores 62 runs, she will surpass Shubman Gill to become the highest run-scorer in international cricket in 2025 across both men’s and women’s formats.
Mandhana’s Stellar Year
Mandhana has been in sensational form throughout 2025. While her T20 series against Sri Lanka started modestly, she delivered a commanding 80-run performance in the fourth match. With this innings, she also crossed the 10,000-run mark in international cricket. Heading into the final ODI, Mandhana has accumulated 1,703 runs across formats this year.
Currently, Shubman Gill leads the international run charts for 2025 with 1,764 runs. Mandhana is just 62 runs shy of overtaking him, marking a rare feat where a female cricketer could top overall international scoring charts, surpassing male counterparts.
Dominance Across Formats
In 2025, Mandhana has scored 1,362 runs in 23 ODIs at an impressive average of 62 and a strike rate of 110, including five centuries and five half-centuries. In nine T20 internationals, she has added 341 runs, including a century.
By contrast, Shubman Gill played 35 international matches in 2025, scoring 1,764 runs in 42 innings at an average of 49 and a strike rate of 76. His tally includes seven centuries and three fifties, with a highest score of 269.
A Historic Moment Awaits
With India leading the series 4-0, the stage is set at the Greenfield International Stadium for Mandhana to create history. A score of 62 today will not only help India in the series finale but also cement Mandhana’s place as the leading run-scorer in international cricket for 2025 — a milestone celebrated across men’s and women’s cricket alike.
