Fatehabad, Haryana – Panic spread in a household in Bhattu Kalan, Fatehabad district, when a woman opened her bathroom door after hearing strange noises — only to find a cobra snake sitting with its hood raised. The terrifying sight left the woman stunned, and fear gripped the entire family.
According to reports, the woman heard unusual sounds coming from the bathroom and decided to check. The moment she opened the door, she froze in shock — a three-foot-long cobra was coiled inside, ready to strike. The snake hissed loudly as soon as it saw movement. Acting quickly, the family shut the bathroom door and immediately called local snake rescuer Pawan Jogpal for help.
Snake Catcher Called to the Rescue
Within minutes, snake catcher Pawan Jogpal reached the house. Upon inspection, he found the cobra hiding near a bathroom slab. As he attempted to move the slab, the snake raised its hood and began hissing aggressively. Jogpal skillfully lifted the snake using his stick and safely carried it out of the bathroom.
He later identified it as an Indian Spectacled Cobra, locally known as Padam Naag, one of the most venomous snakes in India. Jogpal explained that the distinct “spectacle-like mark” on its hood gives the species its name.
Cobra’s Nature and Caution for Residents
Jogpal further said that cobras are highly temperamental and become defensive when they sense danger. Their venom can be fatal if medical aid is not administered promptly. He also noted that such snakes often enter homes during the colder months in search of warmth.
The incident has once again raised awareness among local residents about the presence of snakes in the area, urging people to stay alert and contact professionals instead of handling such situations on their own.
