Ujjain: The Swasth Tan-Man Yoga Club has announced a massive awareness campaign titled “Quit Tobacco and Cigarettes – Choose Fennel and Sugar Crystals.” Club President Dr. Rajesh Thakur Nirjhar and Media Incharge Ms. Ashwini Dubey released a joint press statement emphasizing the urgent need to combat the growing addiction to tobacco and cigarettes across India.
They stated that while the nation is progressing rapidly in the 21st century, a large number of citizens continue to fall victim to deadly habits like smoking and chewing tobacco—leading to premature death and family distress. “Instead of the fragrance of saffron in every grain, today we see the poison of tobacco spreading across society,” said Dr. Thakur.
The upcoming campaign aims to raise awareness through slogan-writing contests, poster-making competitions, seminars, and street plays, highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and the health benefits of switching to saunf (fennel seeds) and mishri (sugar crystals).
Community leaders, heads of social organizations, and representatives of NGOs will be invited to participate. The initiative will culminate with a symbolic “Tobacco and Cigarette Bonfire,” where participants will take a pledge to quit tobacco permanently. Pledge forms will be distributed, and participants will receive fennel and sugar crystals as symbols of a healthier lifestyle.
The information was shared by Office Secretary Rajendra Srivastava.
