Lucknow: New revelations have emerged about Dr. Shaheen Saeed, arrested in connection with the Delhi blast case. The 46-year-old former professor, once celebrated for her academic brilliance, is now under investigation for alleged links to a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist module involved in the terror plot.
A Bright Academic Career
Dr. Shaheen Saeed, a native of Kaisarbagh, Lucknow, excelled in her studies from a young age. She topped her 10th and 12th-grade exams at a government girls’ college in Lucknow and went on to complete her MBBS and MD from a government medical college in Prayagraj. Following her success in the UP Public Service Commission exam, she secured the position of Assistant Professor in Pharmacology at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur in 2006.
She briefly transferred to Kannauj Medical College in 2009 but returned to Kanpur in 2010. According to college records, Dr. Shaheen ceased attending duty in 2013 without official leave or notification. Despite repeated attempts by the administration and colleagues to contact her, she remained unreachable. In 2021, the government officially terminated her employment.
Personal Life and Radical Links
Former colleagues revealed that Dr. Shaheen had previously married Dr. Hayat, divorcing him in 2015. After leaving GSVM, she reportedly became associated with Al Falah University in Haryana, where she allegedly met Muzammil Ahmed Ganaie, a key suspect in ongoing terror investigations.
The Arrest and Evidence
Dr. Shaheen was apprehended in connection with the discovery of large quantities of explosives in Faridabad. Police recovered a Russian assault rifle and cartridges registered in her name, allegedly linked to Muzammil. She is currently under investigation for her role in the terror network.
A Fall from Grace
Once celebrated as a class topper and accomplished academic, Dr. Shaheen Saeed’s journey from medical college to alleged involvement in terrorism has shocked both the academic and public spheres. Authorities are continuing to probe her connections and the extent of her involvement in the plot.
