Uttarakhand Weather Update, November 3, 2025: Fog to Intensify Chill, Snowfall Expected in Higher Altitudes from Tomorrow

Dehradun (By Rashmi Khatri): The weather in Uttarakhand is set to take a wintry turn, with fog and falling temperatures gripping the plains and cold waves bringing biting chill to the hill districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light snowfall in high-altitude regions of the state on November 4 and 5, while plains may experience mild fog during the early morning hours.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, most parts of the state will continue to see dry weather conditions today. However, fog formation in the plains is likely to increase the morning chill, while cold winds in the hills will add to the winter-like feel.

Snow and Rain Forecast for Hill Districts

Light rain is expected in parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh districts over the next two days. Areas situated above 4,000 meters are likely to witness fresh snowfall, marking the early onset of winter in the higher Himalayas.

Temperature Trends

In Dehradun, clear sunshine on Sunday pushed the day temperature up by 3°C, reaching 30.0°C, while the night temperature rose to 16.4°C. Plains across Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts also recorded normal temperatures.

Weather scientist Rohit Thapliyal stated that the expected rain and snowfall in the hills will lead to a sharp drop in temperatures, bringing a noticeable chill across the state. Mornings and evenings are expected to remain particularly cold and foggy.

Outlook for the Week

Following the brief wet spell, weather conditions are likely to remain dry across Uttarakhand from November 6 to 8. However, fog in the plains may continue to lower visibility and cause a slight dip in temperatures during early mornings.

Residents are advised to prepare for colder mornings ahead as Uttarakhand transitions into the early winter phase.
